Samsung recently announced its latest mid-range smartphones, the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35. Although these models are not as powerful as the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, they offer great value for money. Although there are some differences, the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 are more similar than different.

Both Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 feature a 6.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate, providing users with a seamless viewing experience. The flat display has a punch-hole on the front and uses Vision Booster technology to automatically adapt to your environment. This technology improves content visibility in bright sunlight and dark environments, making the display easy to see in any environment.

Both phones are available in his four pastel colors: ice blue, purple, navy, and lemon. Each color is bright and unique, making your phone stand out.

The two smartphones are very similar, with rounded corners and a comparable layout of the camera module on the back. Both phones come with three separate camera lenses. A notable difference in design is that the A55's frame is made of metal, while the A35's is made of plastic

One area where there is a key difference between the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 is the chipset. The former offers the Samsung Exynos 1480, while the latter offers the less powerful Samsung Exynos 1380.

Exynos 1480 was launched in March 2024 along with Galaxy A55. Developed using a 4nm process, this chip aims to provide the best performance with increased efficiency and reduced power consumption. The Exynos 1480 has eight cores, including four powerful Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.75 GHz for demanding tasks and four energy-efficient Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz to handle lighter tasks. High Cortex-A55 core. Integrated with Xclipse 530 GPU. 

According to early benchmarks, the Exynos 1480 offers a 22% increase in CPU performance and a 31% increase in GPU performance compared to the previous generation, the 2023 Exynos 1380. This combination allows for better handling of graphics-intensive apps and games.

Exynos 1380 debuted on the Galaxy A24 and hit the market in early 2023. Manufactured using a 5nm process, it features four high-performance Cortex-A78 cores with clock speeds of up to 2.4 GHz and four low-performance Cortex-A78 cores with clock speeds of up to 2.0 GHz to tackle demanding tasks. It has a Cortex-A55 core. Extend battery life with easier operation. It has an integrated 950MHz ARM Mali-G68 MP5 GPU, which is suitable for most everyday graphics processing needs. This is the same chip used in the Galaxy A55's predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy A54.

Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 are equipped with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 25W fast wired charging. Both models are said to have all-day battery life, but neither supports wireless charging.

Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 have slightly different camera specs, with the former being better. Galaxy A55 is equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera that captures detailed images, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera that captures a wider area, and a 5-megapixel macro camera that allows you to get closer to your subject. the 32 MP front camera makes your selfies clear and crisp.

The Galaxy A35 also has a 50-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel macro camera, but it has a lower-quality 8-megapixel ultrawide camera. The 13-megapixel front camera is also a notable downgrade.

Both phones offer 4K video recording at 30 frames per second (fps), 1080p at 30/60 fps, and 720p at 30 fps. Whether you're recording a family event or creating a vlog, both phones can record high-quality videos.

The Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35 are currently available for purchase in India and parts of Europe. Expect a wide release in other regions in the coming weeks.

Samsung Galaxy A55 prices start from £439 (approx. $564) and Samsung Galaxy A35 prices start from £339 (approx. $435). These prices are slightly lower than the launch prices of the 2023 Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A35. Both phones come with either 128GB or 256GB of storage.

Interestingly, Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy A35 will be coming to the US, but the Galaxy A55 will not. If you live in the United States, your purchasing decision will be made on the spot.

There are three factors to consider before deciding whether to spend the extra money and buy a Galaxy A55 over a Galaxy A35. The first and most important aspect is speed and performance. The Galaxy A55 is equipped with a newer generation Exynos 1480 than the Exynos 1380 in the Galaxy A35. We haven't tested the Exynos 1480 ourselves yet, but based on the specs it should be a noticeable upgrade. It is also important to check the specifications of the camera

The Galaxy A55 has a 32 MP front camera, while the Galaxy A35 only has a 13MP selfie camera. The A55 has a 12MP ultra-wide camera, while the A35 only has an 8MP ultra-wide camera. However, both phones are equipped with a 50 MP main camera and a 5MP macro camera, and their specifications are the same. Overall, the Galaxy A55 seems to have better camera capabilities, especially for selfies and wide-angle shots.

Lastly, there is a difference in the quality of the finish. The Galaxy A55 uses a metal frame, while the Galaxy A35 uses plastic. For some people, this is a big difference. For others, not so much.
